In a bid to tackle car crime within South Yorkshire, police forces have conducted a three week operation, which was designed to disrupt vehicle thieves.
Throughout the three-week operation, plain clothed officers were deployed to disrupt vehicle thieves; whilst during the hours when car thefts usually occur, high-visibility and proactive police patrols were conducted.
In addition, it was reported that officers visited known car criminals in the area to ensure they were informed of the operation; whilst vehicle owners who had left valuables on display – which are likely to tempt criminals – were advised of the dangers.
Following the campaign, it was suggested that car related crime had reduced within the area; whilst the police also confirmed that they would be conducting similar operations over the coming months.
