Figures published last week have revealed that crime rates within England and Wales have fallen to their lowest levels since the 1980s.
According to the latest figures, which were compiled following the Crime Survey for England and Wales, last year the rate of crime fell by 15 percent, with 7.5 million crimes against adults and households being recorded – the lowest figure since 1981.
A breakdown of the figures have revealed that household theft fell by 25 percent last year, overall violence experienced a 22 percent decline, whilst vandalism and anti-social behaviour experienced decreases of 15 percent and 7 percent respectively.
The figures have also revealed that crime experienced by children aged between 10 and 15 years old also experienced a decrease last year; although it has been suggested that cases relating to fraud and sex offences increased by 25 percent and 17 percent respectively.
