It has been revealed that following the first major event of the year at a Northamptonshire race circuit, police recorded nearly 100 driving offences.
According to reports, following the event officers recorded over 60 speeding offences, nearly 20 registration plate offences and eight seatbelt offences. In addition, offences relating to driving documents, and defective vehicles – such as issues with windscreens and / or lights were also recorded.
Each of these offences carry different penalties, for example drivers caught without the correct licence can expect to receive a maximum fine of £1,000, between three and six penalty points on their licence and a potential ban.
Uninsured drivers, on the other hand can expect to receive a fixed penalty, between six and eight points on their licence and a maximum fine of £5,000; whilst those caught driving without wearing a seatbelt will receive a £100.
In regard to offences relating to speeding; drivers can expect to receive a fine and penalty points, which under the totting up procedure can result in disqualification from driving.
