Diathermy Loop Excision Causes Duodenal Ulcer

N underwent a smear test which showed moderate dyskaryosis as a result of which she was referred to the hospital to undergo a diathermy loop excision. Unfortunately, following the procedure, N was in a lot pain and there was a delay before it was diagnosed that she had a perforated duodenal ulcer. N sustained injury to her bowel, developed faecal peritonitis and she has a very stormy and prolonged stay in hospital, ending up with pneumonia and wound infection with MRSA.

We obtained medical evidence from experts in the fields of Gynaecology and Colorectal Surgery. The evidence supported a claim for clinical negligence which was presented to the hospital. Eventually, through our perseverance and determination it was possible to secure settlement for N who accepted the sum of £27,500.00.
