Susan Bartfield

Consultant Solicitor

I am a head of the Clinical Negligence Department and Panel Member of the Law Society Clinical Negligence Specialist Panel. I have 20 years experience in acting for patients.  Over the years I have developed a particular interest in cases concerning the treatment of and late diagnosis of cancer working with both families of those who sadly did not survive and with patients who are hopeful of recovery.

In recent years, amongst the many cases I have successfully concluded are those involving a delay of 11 months in diagnosis of breast cancer, death caused by failure to treat heart disease, catastrophic injury resulting from failure to diagnose a brain tumour, bowel damage caused during a routine hysterectomy and failure to treat infection in a newborn baby, resulting in extensive and permanent injuries.  I have achieved a number of settlements involving £millions.

Client comments over the years have included:

“Highly professional standards, delivered in a sympathetic manner – very reassuring.  We could find no fault – in fact the whole process (which can’t be easy for anyone) was made as pleasant for us as was possible”

“professional but compassionate approach”

“the whole process from initial consultation to final settlement has been explained step by step clearly, concisely and with great empathy ….my feelings and wishes always the first consideration”

“you are sympathetic, knowledgeable and business like”

“Sue has been nothing short of fabulous from the word go, she was extremely efficient and hardworking, friendly and helpful and I enjoyed contact with her which I shall now miss”
