Failure to Diagnose Posterior Urethral Valves

R suffered with repeated urinary tract infections following his birth.  Before he was born his parents were advised that he would need to undergo investigations following his birth but such investigations were unfortunately never performed.

When they were eventually performed R was diagnosed with posterior urethral valves which was the cause of his urinary tract infections but by the time that he was diagnosed and treated he ended up with reduced kidney function which may affect R when going through puberty and which may result in the need for him to be treated with medication.

Although the claim was initially defended, it was eventually possible to resolve the claim with R accepting an award of £20,000.00.
